Director, Software Development, Expedia Global Payments

Expedia Global Payments (EGP) is responsible for providing scalable B2C and B2B payment experiences to millions of Expedia Group’s consumers and suppliers. We handle triple-digit billions of dollars of payments annually, leveraging dozens of consumer and supplier payment products and currencies. 

EGP is looking for a Director of Software Development to own the delivery of strategically important new services and to own and evolve other core parts of our payments platform. This role will be EGP's most senior engineering position for EGP in our Austin, TX location so we are looking for someone who can build teams and grow a culture of excellence. Payments is strategically Important for Expedia Group for future growth. We have an aggressive program to elevate our pay-in and pay-out capabilities and this position will be key to the success of both. You will own the development of new capabilities, growing and developing your organization and operating mission critical services in Production.


What you'll do:

  • Building a high performing organization through hiring and developing the talent in your organization

  • Develop and align to processes to ensure operational excellence and high quality feature delivery

  • Work with other functions across Expedia Group eCommerce to develop strategy and a roadmap for the areas you own

  • Contribute to region wide Expedia Group activities such as intern programs and college hiring

  • As a member of the EGP Tech Leadership Team jointly develop and own processes for the Leadership team with the other Directors


Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 12+ years of experience in Software Development; or equivalent related professional experience

  • Master's degree in a related field with 10+ years of experience in Software Development; or equivalent related professional experience

  • 2+ years experience performing capacity planning or allocation for 30 person or larger organization

  • 2+ years experience driving multi-year delivery roadmap across multiple programs

  • Have led an organization of 30+ people

  • 3+ years experience managing online services to service level objectives

  • Experience leading through others - Has led managers as well as individual contributors

  • Development experience with AWS technologies, GraphQL, Java, Kotlin, gRPC, Javascript, React, SQL & No SQL data stores and Spring Boot
