Software Development Engineer II

We seek to build and refine the best platform that can meet our engineering needs and deploy seamlessly across multiple zones and regions. Today we operate thousands of instances and deploy many times per day without customer impact. We are the TLS team that operates the Lodging, Pricing and Availability service that powers millions of quotes per second!
As a Software Development Engineer II, you will work with a team to propose, prototype, design and implement various core components of the Pricing platform and capabilities in partnership with teams over the world. Members of the team provide thought leadership and technical expertise needed to overcome hard problems at scale.
Collaborate with team members to co-develop and resolve problems
Take advantage of opportunities to build new technical expertise in a specific engineering area
Understand the importance of system and technology integration and the basic features and facilities involved in the integration process
Apply software design principles, data structures and/or design patterns and computer science fundamentals to write code that is clean, maintainable, optimised, modular with good naming conventions
Complete tasks and/or provide data to support implementation of comprehensive solutions that forge linkages between structure, people, process, and technology
Apply formal training methods to current workload. You feel comfortable challenging the status quo
Report clearly on current work status. You ask meaningful questions when empowered to do so
Professional software engineering experience
Bachelor's or master’s degree in a Technical field; or equivalent related professional experience
Developing software in a team environment of at least 5 engineers (agile, version control, etc.)
Built and maintained a software project/product in production environments in public/hybrid cloud infrastructure
Strength in a strongly typed object-oriented language like Java or C#, Scala and python experience is a plus
Experience in a modern OOP language like Java or C#
Understanding of how projects fit together within your team and how the team' goals fit a business need
Able to understand moderately sophisticated systems
Able to test and monitor your own code
Ability to debug applications
