Expedia Group has an exciting opportunity to join its Global Tax Reporting Team as a Senior Analyst. The Global Tax Reporting Team is part of the broader tax department and corporate finance at Expedia Group. Our team of tax enthusiasts is responsible for the global tax provision, U.S. income tax reporting (federal, state, and U.S. international reporting), tax controversy, mergers and acquisitions support, and special projects. Reporting to the Director, Global Tax Reporting, the Senior Analyst will provide U.S. income tax support for planning / business initiatives, corporate transactions, legislative changes, and other special projects.
What you’ll do:
You will prepare detailed tax forecasts / models, write technical memoranda to document anticipated tax considerations, and leverage your strong technical skills in the areas of accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) and U.S tax compliance for many aspects of this role
You will have a regular, active role in the global tax provision and compliance processes
Tax Planning and Modeling – Prepare tax forecasts and models associated with planning / business initiatives and changes in tax legislation and summarize the anticipated effects on U.S. taxes and the company’s effective tax rate
Transaction Support – Provide support for domestic transactions including mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, financing, and business initiatives
Prepare calculations, memoranda, and/or disclosures relating to the tax effects of such transactions, including tax provision and tax compliance considerations
Financial Reporting – Support the quarter-end and year-end financial reporting processes and prepare various aspects of the worldwide tax provision for domestic and foreign entities
Tax Compliance – Support the U.S. tax compliance process and prepare U.S. taxable income calculations and forecasts
Technology and Automation – Support the evolution of tax technology tools and technology enhancements
Controls and Process Transformation – Maintain process documentation and support ongoing process transformation while ensuring adherence to controls and policies
Who you are:
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting or a related field; or equivalent related professional experience
CPA license preferred
At least 3 years of professional experience, ideally with one of the “Big Four” accounting firms or an SEC registered company
Comprehensive and demonstrable technical skills related to general accounting principles, ASC 740, and federal and state income tax concepts, with exposure to international tax concepts
Exposure to complex transactions preferred but not required
Tax provision and compliance software experience, preferably Corptax
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Strong aptitude for identifying and implementing process improvements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstration of strong analytical skills and the ability to develop solutions around new facts or tax law changes
Strong tax research skills
Organized and attentive to detail
Works well independently and in a team environment
Self-starter and diligent problem solver
