Senior User Experience Engineer

Expedia Global Payments (EGP) is looking for top engineering talent to help drive the development of our payment platforms. Our services are the nexus of a globally distributed system that spans many organizations, processes $100B annually in more than 35 currencies across the globe! Our roadmap is deep and contains several innovative programs designed to make our services fault-tolerant, reduce the cost of payment processing, and improve both our customers (travelers) and partners (hotels, airlines, etc.) experience.

More specifically, you will join a team developing an innovative, generic Payment Module uniquely designed to support sophisticated payment scenarios. We want to offer travelers the simplest and most reliable experience while paying for carefully crafted itineraries. We will make this capability easy to adopt and seamlessly integrate into any travel partners checkout page with intelligent adaptive and dynamic feature set. This position focuses on frontend UI and web service development.

What you'll do:

  • Design, develop, document, and thoroughly test your code

  • Own multiple software components of the front-end (payment UI components) or the back-end (payment web services) depending on the projects in flight as well as your affinities

  • Build your own automation and reporting tools to provide capabilities around the components / applications you own and will participate in solving production issues

  • You will make the right judgment calls to deliver features in time, with the highest possible level of quality, in the best interest of the customer

  • You will get to expand your skills in building distributed, resilient solutions while influencing others and setting the standard on the overall level of excellence within the team

  • You will join a very experienced, successful, and impactful team and will have a unique opportunity to grow

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience

  • 8+ years of experience in Software Development using modern languages, such as Java (preferred) or C#

  • 4+ years of experience in web UI development based on JavaScript and frameworks, such as Reactj.s (preferred) or Angular

  • 4+ years creating and supporting Web Services in a high transactional environment

  • First class communication skills in written and verbal form

  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to produce across your team and beyond

  • excellent coding skills

  • Strong object-oriented programming concepts, data structure, algorithms, and system level programming (including multi-threaded programming)

  • Track record of building your own automation and reporting tools to provide capabilities around your service

  • Ability to perform and influence code reviews as well as technical design meetings

  • Track record of successfully delivering high quality, distributed services with large transaction volume on a 24x7 operational cycle

  • Good understanding of Software Development Lifecycle and methodologies

  • Experience interviewing and mentoring Software Engineers

  • Knowledge of performance testing, application tuning and load testing
