Senior Director, User Experience Design

As a Senior Director of User Experience Design in our Customer Experience, Design and Research organization, you will lead a multidisciplinary UX team to craft simple, intuitive, and fabulous experiences for millions of travelers worldwide.

While using human-centered design methodologies to identify customer needs and opportunities, partner with Product, Technology, Marketing, and Operations to build and complete a roadmap that prioritizes outstanding customer experiences. Improving the for quality, craft, and inspirational leadership in ways that uplift our design community and elevate our talent brand outside the company.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive a compelling vision for the experience across multiple divisions. Along with setting the UX strategy and metrics.

  • Participate in roadmap and headcount planning to ensure that our design team is positioned around the work.

  • Deep expertise in human-centered design will pair with a broad organizational view that influences business strategy and brings design thinking — and doing — down to earth for the entire company!

  • Develop strategic directions and corresponding metrics that resolve customer experience challenges in novel ways.

  • Champion simple, sophisticated experiences and hold the entire team — not just designers — accountable for quality.

  • Help Expedia Group employees understand and apply human-centered design to their work.

  • Represent our design organization both across Expedia Group and within the industry.

  • Contribute to our talent pipeline, up-level existing talent, improve team diversity and equity, and develop successors for your own position.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience; Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, or related Design field or relevant experience is applicable.

  • Experience leading and influencing senior designers both directly and across layers of a matrixed organization.

  • Deep, modern understanding of design specializations (product design, user research, content design, service design).

  • Experience driving inclusion and partnership across business domains and technology functions.

  • Sophisticated skills in storytelling, presentation, and facilitation.

  • Travel experience and passion for travel a definite plus!
