Vice President, Legal, Lodging & Transport Partners

Expedia Group's Legal team is hiring a Vice President, Associate General Counsel.
The role leads legal global coverage for the Expedia for Business (E4B) Lodging Account Management and Strategic Travel Partners teams, who collectively manage Expedia Group’s relationships with millions of hotels, vacation rental providers, airlines, rental car companies, cruise operators and activities providers, among other travel partners.

What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with commercial leaders of the Lodging Account Management and Strategic Travel Partners teams to develop and execute business strategies, including providing timely and risk-appropriate advice, leading legal negotiations and drafting on commercial agreements, and leading on legal support for strategic initiatives

  • Lead a highly skilled and talented team of senior legal professionals and keeping that team motivated, informed and productive

  • Lead legal advisor to SVP, Lodging Account Management and SVP, Strategic Travel Partners, attending regular and ad hoc leadership team meetings

  • Solutioning for a myriad of business challenges, including contract interpretation, internal standards and practices, risk management, insolvencies, changes in law, and regulatory risk

  • Working with outside legal counsel and effectively managing outside counsel budget and with internal business partners to inform and plan

  • Engage across other specialist teams including tax, data privacy, information security, product and technology

  • Coordinate with other members of the E4B Legal team, as well as across ELCA, including sharing findings and feedback to build efficiencies and better support business partners

Who you are:

  • A true business partner, experienced leading legal support for innovative, global businesses in a commercial role, with demonstrable transaction drafting and negotiating skills

  • Experience successfully leading a dispersed team (5+ direct reports) of senior and talented legal professionals, providing coaching and development

  • A keen understanding of how to balance legal risk and commercial objectives

  • Experienced working on a wide range of sophisticated commercial and future-facing business matters with minimal direction

  • Ability to build strong working relationships with internal/external business partners
