Director, Business Development, TravelAds (APAC)

About the Role:

Are you looking to join a fast growing, industry-leading travel advertising team? Are you passionate about the intersection of ecommerce and advertising? Does leading a regional, rapidly-expanding and multifaceted sales organization energize you?

Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Development, the Director is responsible for leading sales efforts in APAC by driving accelerated sales growth for TravelAds, Expedia Groups sponsored listing product, across a portfolio of brands (including Expedia,, Orbitz, and Travelocity) directly to partners.

What you’ll do:

  • Grow revenue – deliver against quarterly and annual revenue goals for TravelAds
  • Lead, empower and coach a team of media sales managers
  • Forecast and set goals for the APAC sales team
  • Act as the Media Solutions authority, for key internal and external partners
  • Develop sales strategies for emerging and mature markets – growing the ad sales footprint within the region through new client acquisition and growth of base accounts
  • Develop and implement go-to-market strategies and plans
  • Manage and coach sales teams, including recruiting, hiring and training of front line sellers and sales managers
  • Support the TravelAds sales team by participating and leading conversations with existing and prospective partners, engaging other corporate resources as the need arises.
  • Understand CPC auction mechanisms to develop strategies to increase revenue and improve return on ad spend.

Who you are:

You'll be a good fit for this role if you have:

  • Proven experience leading geographically dispersed, multifaceted sales teams.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in operating, monitoring and optimizing sales engagement and process.
  • Ability to build solid relationships at multiple levels with clients.
  • Experience working with internal teams to ensure organizational understanding of sales strategy and market demands and how that translates into product offering and sales support requirements.
  • Experience analyzing performance of the regional business, major accounts and report results.
  • Ability to investigate performance metrics and details of business composition. Success in using metrics to uncover new opportunities and/or gaps to grow/scale the business.
  • Experience collaborating with peers to determine standard methodologies to help the global team win.
  • Strong balance of people skills and analytical approach to running business for optimal performance.
  • Strong propensity to take initiative and thrive with change.
  • Ability to travel in-market and navigate multiple time zones optimally.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; master’s degree preferred
  • Seven plus years of demonstrated success as an individual contributor and sales manager in media and/or digital travel sales.
