Senior Software Development Engineer
The Platform Control Plane team is the driver responsible for the next generation Platform for Expedia Group. Come with your strong web development skills as well as passion in building modern web-based UIs to help us build the best-in-class Technology Platform to power our two-sided marketplace (travelers and partners)!
Our company has pushed for an “API First” approach for surfacing our Business Capabilities to our EG developer community. We will be building out the full-stack platform that allows API providers and API consumers to be productive in end-to-end flows from onboarding to transacting and evolving their technical and business successes.
In this role, you will make an impact across Expedia Group working with various technical teams to help craft our API first approach. You will contribute to the Platform Console and other tool chains that enables producers and consumers of the platform with intuitive interfaces. As a senior member of the team, you will provide the thought leadership and technical expertise needed to overcome hard problems.
What you'll do:
Design and build reusable component-based web UI architectures with modern frameworks (React.js, Node, GraphQL, etc.)
Collaborate with product leads, UX designers, information architects, and back-end engineers
Enthusiastically look for ways to make our customers' experiences better
Advocate for engineering excellence, excellent usability, and outstanding quality
Drive architectural decisions on our frontend and backend systems
Showcase your work on our tech blog and internal & external conferences
Mentor other engineers on the team
Drive the solution for the full experience including cross-browser compatibility, web security, web performance and accessibility
Who you are:
Solid understanding of REST, GraphQL and/or gRPC, as well as API testing and developer experience
Experience working in AWS and continuous delivery practices
Ability to test, monitor, debug, fix issues within established SLAs, using testing and monitoring tools; with experience to design software that is easily testable and observable
