The Expedia Group Experience Lab team explores and accelerates next-generation product and service experiences that advance our brand, evolve our technology, and bring customer-centered innovation to the travel industry! Here's just some of what you’ll contribute to as a member of our team:

The Senior Designer will work on a multidisciplinary team to design and prototype groundbreaking experiences for our customers across the travel ecosystem. They thrive at pushing the boundaries of what is possible at the intersection of data, design, and human behavior, resulting in new interfaces enabled by our travel platform.

Typically collaborating with other multidisciplinary specialists, this person will go deep in translating trends and customer insights into compelling design directions and meaningful interactions for emerging features or capabilities. They can also quickly step back and think holistically about how these moments fit into our travel ecosystem and our customers’ ecosystems. They understand the collective power of the team and provoke making together.

This individual will design interfaces and experiences the Experience Lab delivers and continually communicates findings from all teams' work outward for both internal and external customers through a variety of channels.

They are leaders in uncovering and publishing new advancements in emerging technology, AI, and customer behavior.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop empathy and insights about customers based on data and insights from research and other customer data sources

  • Conceptual problem-solver that optimally applies human-centered design practices and systemic thinking to tackle highly sophisticated design challenges at a platform scale

  • Influence strategy for Experience Lab projects by articulating a coherent UX vision based on clear, impactful problem/opportunity statements

  • Explore and experiments with new design paradigms and interaction models to realize innovative experiences for all our users across the travel ecosystem

  • Collaborate directly with engineering and data science teams to design with data and uncover new ways to tap into our travel platform data enabling intelligent experiences using AI/ML.

  • Design and prototype of new experiences in apps, the web, and beyond

  • Demonstrate advanced skills in common interaction design principles and practice, and creates appropriate sketches, wireframes, flows, design comps, and prototypes with minimal guidance.

  • Continually keeps an eye on what’s next - experiments with new tools and interaction design approaches to help advance the work and organization.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience in Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, Data Design, or any other related fields; or equivalent related professional experience

  • More than 5 years of professional experience, with demonstrated ability working with product teams and leading UX designers on software interfaces

  • Strong skills in interaction design and prototyping of sophisticated interfaces for app, web, and other UI

  • Proven experience working directly with engineering and data science partners to craft advanced, intelligent interfaces and influencing the creation of AI (artificial intelligence)/ML (machine learning) capabilities to enable those moments

  • Advanced skills in Information architecture and designing experiences or features for large platforms

  • A futurist and curious mentality – always looking at what’s next and eager to share out with others
