VP Design, Partner

As VP Design, Partner, for our Experience Design organization, you'll help us achieve that mission as the chief visionary for our Partner experience — an end-to-end suite of B2B and developer solutions that enable millions of travel suppliers, partners, and agents to thrive in our global platform.  

Reporting directly to our SVP, Head of Design, you’ll manage a globally distributed team of senior design leaders whose work spans a complex array of customers and businesses — from vacation-rental owners and boutique hotels to global chains and travel agents. You’ll be an influential presence across product, engineering, operations, marketing, and other groups, partnering with divisional leaders to connect all teams’ work into a holistic vision and an industry-leading end-to-end experience for Expedia partners.  

What you’ll do: 

You’re an impactful, respected design leader who can define and drive a B2B experience vision across multiple business units and programs at once, in multiple geographies. You lead with passion and conviction and have the innate ability to ignite passion in others. Never satisfied with the status quo, you can raise the bar for quality and craft across a team of strong design leaders while maintaining your focus on end-to-end strategy and long-term vision.  

  • Lead an embedded, globally distributed Experience Design team through centralized partnership, delivering meaningful and measurable customer value across all major initiatives.  

  • Shape team strategy, identifying risks and prioritizing opportunities.  

  • Collaborate with designers, business leaders, and technology teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, on-brand customer experiences for new and evolving categories.  

  • Drive design-team focus areas, product/experience vision, and clarity of design outcomes in partnership with Product and Engineering leaders.  

  • Play an integral role in organization-wide efforts to understand and bridge business priorities with Design and Research investment and output.  

  • Build and maintain healthy relationships with peers and partners in locations around the world, establishing shared priorities based on customer need, not internal dialogue  

  • Exhibit excellent judgment in working through issues that could slow or hinder progress in moving Expedia Group’s products, services, and platform forward.  

  • Drive key functions to measure the health of the customer experience and make needed changes — both quantitatively and qualitatively — to improve the Expedia partner experience.  

  • Identify gaps and solutions for future growth and scale within the organization, including system, product, functional, and partnership opportunities.  

  • Make staffing decisions based on near- and long-term business priorities, as well as team strengths and motivation.  

  • Contribute positively to a team environment of critique, mentorship, and world-class creative development.  

  • Build a diverse, inclusive environment across the Experience Design team, modeling inclusive behaviors and holding managers accountable for the same.  

Who you are: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, along with proven experience in design research, design strategy, experience strategy, design thinking, and human-centered design.  

  • 10+ years of management experience: hiring, developing, and leading diverse and inclusive teams, and positively inspiring others to do their best work.  

  • Highly collaborative and curious, with a beginner's mentality and first-principles approach to problem-solving.  

  • Demonstrated understanding of the complexity of product development and new product incubation.  

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, along with using wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to communicate an experience-design perspective.  

  • Proven record for driving standards for excellence in user interface design, information architecture, and interaction design.  

  • Deep understanding of modern experience design practices, including accessibility and inclusive design.  

  • Proven ability to use storytelling to explain insights gathered from data, research, and other technical domains.
