Content Designer III
At Expedia Group, our mission is to power global travel for everyone, everywhere. As a Content Designer III on our XD (Experience Design) team, you'll help us achieve that mission by contributing to the tone, structure, and narrative flow of content across Expedia’s product experiences. You’ll work in a multidisciplinary design pod that includes researchers, product designers, and fellow content strategists, and your work will extend from improving the content experience in our products to contributing standards and conventions to our platform design system.
Drawing insights from user research, product teardowns, and other sources, you’ll identify, investigate, and craft solutions to content-design problems across the customer journey, and you'll participate in lab testing that enables you to see the impact of your work on the products we build.
What you’ll do:
Reporting into our centralized Content Strategy practice, you'll drive the content strategy and the approach to content design within a product area. As a member of our XD community, you'll also be an advocate for human-centered content strategy and design.
Apply holistic, customer-focused approaches to drive the content strategy in your product area
Use human-centered design methods to design, craft, and test content solutions that address real customer challenges
Orchestrate a clear and compelling voice and tone — even if you don’t own all the content — across complex product areas
Identify and use scalable frameworks (e.g., matrixes and other structured documentation) to tackle structural problems with product content
Design content solutions to improve systems, overcome technical constraints, and reduce content debt
Apply UI frameworks, modularity, localization, reuse, and related concepts to design content solutions that scale
Use both qualitative and quantitative insights and business analytics to drive content insights and solutions
Partner across teams to improve the accessibility, inclusion, readability, and translatability of product content
We realize that content strategy and content design are constantly evolving, and we know that no two people enter this field through the same path. So we're not expecting you to be a specialist in everything listed here, but we do ask that you demonstrate expertise commensurate with the job level in whichever methods you apply. We're also looking for people who will contribute frameworks to our growing team and our design system, so we're excited to see how you scale your thinking!
Bachelor's degree or equivalent, as well as experience in core skills such as UX Writing, Content Audits and Analysis, Content Mapping and Modeling, Content Planning and Sourcing, Conversational Design, Information Architecture, and Storytelling; or equivalent related professional experience (This is not a content marketing role.)
Able to audit, analyze, structure, create, and present content independently using established frameworks
Understanding of human-centered design (HCD) practices
A thoughtful, empathetic, and inclusive approach to content design that meets every user where they are
Increased focus on content problems across systems and product areas
Strong skills in facilitation, presentation, and storytelling, and the ability to communicate compelling rationale and narratives to your team and partners
A passion for travel and for our mission
A portfolio of work that demonstrates your skills. We're especially interested in seeing examples of work you've done for Android and iOS apps, and if you have experience working in a platform or two-sided marketplace, it's a definite plus
