Software Engineer

Expedia Group is the world’s travel platform, looking to bring the world within reach. We are looking for a software engineer to help fully realize those goals by helping to build the platforms and products that give every employee of Expedia Group meaningful access to data and AI.

Our team enables the above by democratizing access to data and metadata, making it easy to find, understand, use and manage data assets across the entire organization. We need your help to help bring order and meaning to petabytes+ of travel data through outstanding user interfaces and build that platforms that will allow that data to scale.

As a software engineer, you’ll help drive the execution of features to collect, visualize, and aggregate data. You’ll participate in architectural direction, implementation, and delivery of our systems.  

What you’ll do:

  • Code in languages such as Java/Python/Scala
  • Build services that communicate with the vast quantities of API- and stream-accessible data at Expedia Group
  • Develop features relying on event-driven data, microservices, and data science models
  • Translate design into high-quality code
  • Contribute to thoughtful code reviews, recommending ways to improve our processes, continually enhancing/refactoring code, and promoting great testing practices
  • Contribute to the architectural direction of our AI-focused products and platforms

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Comfortable coding in languages such as Java/Python/Scala
  • Comfortable collaborating on a multi-functional team including product management, architects, and UI designers
  • Flexible working on and understanding front-end frameworks and back-end services
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team environment
  • Experience with Hadoop, Spark and No-SQL databases such as Cassandra, Elasticsearch are plus
  • Knowledge/experience of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Docker, etc.) a plus
