Tech lead, Platform Operations

We are looking for a hardworking and intelligent individual to fill the role of Tech Lead, Platform Operations within the Data Technology team. You will be a technical lead within a team of operation engineers and analysts and provide support for our data platform technologies and processes across all of Expedia Group. This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with the global operation team supporting engineering teams across Expedia to ensure a performant highly available data platform.
What you’ll do:
Provide technical leadership to an international team of support engineers responsible all platform operations processes, tools, and resources required to support high availability, on-perm and cloud-based data platforms
Oversee monitoring processes shared by internal groups and vendors to ensure a comprehensive maintenance process and implement daily reporting
Manage end user support and facilitate communication across work streams to ensure satisfaction in troubleshooting and issue resolution
Monitor reliability and availability of data and ensure work according to established benchmark and standards
Train platform operation staff to ensure appropriate maintenance processes and standards
Collaborate with the Data and AI teams (Program, Product, Analysts, Data Architecture, Data Governance, Data Lake, Analytics, and Infrastructure) to support and innovate on the EG Data Platforms
Work with infrastructure and platform engineering team to manage EDW, Hadoop, Teradata, AWS data lake platforms and environments, including service-level, access, capacity, and availability management
Who you are:
Bachelor's or Master’s in Computer Science, Information System or other related program; or equivalent related professional experience is applicable
3+ years of experience as a software or operations engineer
Experience with Data Lake, Data Analytics, and Data Visualization technologies including AWS, Qu bole, Snowflake, Teradata, Hadoop, Tableau.
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and help teams migrate from one platform technology to another
Strong problem solving and communication skills
Metric driven, results oriented focused on continual improvement
Experience as a manager or tech lead supporting a global organization
