Software Development Engineer II / DevOps (AWS/Python)
The eIT - Asset & Configuration Management team is looking for an all-round Software Dev Engineer II to drive and implement our hybrid infrastructure configuration management platform, provide DevOps support, and improve our platform monitoring capabilities across Expedia Group and its portfolio of brands. You'll join our team of engineers and developers from around the world as we solve some of the largest e-commerce asset configuration challenges for security and compliance.
What you'll do:
Work on asset configuration platform/tools/scripts across hybrid (AWS/GCP/Azure/DataCenter) environment
Design, implement, and maintain a secure scalable asset configuration platform
Mentor and teach junior engineers on DevOps standards
Champion Chef/Puppet/AWS Systems Manager for asset configuration, monitoring, alerting, and establishing SLAs
Identify and execute on opportunities to optimize existing systems, improve infrastructure and eliminate work through automation
Demonstrate ability to provide exceptional verbal and written communications
Design and build automation suites to streamline operational support
Who you are:
Experience with AWS Systems Manager/Chef/Puppet, containerized applications as well as automation like ECS or Kubernetes
Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation and other infrastructure-as-code tools
Working knowledge of AWS cloud computing solutions including EC2, S3, and VPCE technologies
Established understanding of Observability fundamentals (Logging, Metrics, Tracing)
Excellent organizational, communication, and technical skills
Ability to learn quickly, master our existing systems and identify areas of improvement
Strong critical thinking skills, with a test & learn mentality and willingness to try, fail, learn
You have 2+ years of previous development/DevOps experience with Python, Java or .NET
