Software Development Engineer I, Site Reliability Engineering

The Platform Control Plane team is building out a full-stack platform to simplify discoverability and consumption of Expedia Group travel data. We’re working on the next generation Platform for the company and putting resiliency at the forefront by forming a dedicated Site Reliability Engineering team focusing on providing visibility and improving the health of the Platform.

In this role, you will work closely with development teams to embed best practices when building scalable, reliable, and secure Platform services and take a proactive, engineering approach to incidents.

What you’ll do:

  • You will define and develop Platform metrics

  • You will develop and perform capacity and chaos exercises

  • You will create and run gameday exercises

  • You will support and troubleshoot production incidents as needed

  • You will orchestrate integration tests and deployments

  • You will build runbooks and work with Tier 1 support teams to ensure successful handling of incidents

  • You will automate processes and find opportunities to improve observability and availability of the Platform

  • You will help development teams maintain high availability

  • You will participate in a community of practice to share and gain knowledge

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree or master’s degree in a related Technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience

  • Knowledge of AWS technologies

  • Experience with observability tools (Logging, Metrics, Tracing)

  • Strong scripting or programming skills

  • Experience working with complex architectures is a plus

  • Experience launching and supporting production systems at large scale is a plus

  • Excellent problem solving and strong communication skills
