Senior Manager- Software Development
The Expedia Retail Partnerships - Affiliates Team is seeking a creative, intellectually curious, motivated Sr. Manager, Engineering. Retail Partnerships are a major channel in the Expedia marketing mix driving a significant portion of Expedia’s world-wide bookings. We're building self-service tools to make it easy for partners to sign-up to our affiliate program and start earing money by accessing tools and products to help them drive referrals to our sites.
As an Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in shaping and executing the vision for these critical marketing components. You will collaborate with a hard-working group of product managers, architects, and engineers to deliver the best possible experience for agents and customers. You will provide technical leadership for a global, dynamic, and growing engineering organization.
What you’ll do:
Coach and mentor an incredible, hardworking team around their goals, delivery, and career development
Champion a balanced and collaborative workgroup across teams
Build a team of robust software engineers utilizing your experience recruiting, screening, and interviewing
Ensure your team delivers high-quality solutions on time, with technical integrity and stability, and continuously innovates to improve engineering efficiency
Drive the evolution of design patterns with industry standards and new technologies, to improve quality and system performance
Participate in and lead design and architecture reviews, handle production incidents and perform code reviews
Partner with teams from engineering, program management, operations, , and product management, to build a roadmap and deliver prioritized engineering backlogs
Who you are:
MS/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience leading development teams, combined with a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in software engineering
Proven ability to grow, develop, mentor, and empower agile teams, while collaborating with partner and engineering teams
Experience in full stack web application development and associated skills (HTTP, SOAP, REST, web services, etc.) in a high-stakes environment.
Experience working on UI Applications and Frameworks.
Experience delivering production-quality high-scale web applications in a professional software engineering role
Strong Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structure, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
Strong experience with Object Oriented coding (e.g., Java), AWS technologies, client / server architecture, etc.
Ability to comfortably work in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong oral and written communication skills across, up, and down a global organization
Excellent time management, resource management, and planning skills, with a demonstrated ability to estimate, schedule, lead, and track multiple concurrent projects. Ability to actively identify upcoming risks, issues, and bottlenecks and resolve issues that sometimes cross departmental boundaries.
