Expedia Group is seeking a VP to lead Practice Management for our growing Customer Experience, Design & Research organization. Our mission to power travel for everyone, everywhere, starts with fundamentally transforming Expedia Group's approach to human-centered design. To get there, we need an inspiring, experienced design leader who can bring together frameworks, processes, standards, and, most importantly, people around a shared vision for our multi-disciplinary design Center of Excellence. 

 

Reporting directly to our SVP, Head of Design, you'll partner across disciplines (Service Design, Experience Design, Content Design, Design Strategy) to codify our design practice and HCD methodology. Working with your team of Practice Leaders, you'll find novel ways to demystify design thinking and bring design “doing” down to earth for the entire company. You'll uphold the bar for design craft and quality, and you'll partner with Engineering, Design Systems, and other teams to scale quality across a complex, multi-brand platform that serves millions of global travelers and travel partners each day. 

 

 

What you’ll do:  
 

  • You will develop and lead the multi-disciplinary Center of Excellence for our design practice, managing a team of senior leaders across Experience Design, Service Design, Content Design, Research, and Design Strategy. 

  • You will inspire and uplift your team, bringing out the best in others and enabling our Practice Leaders to do the same within their respective disciplines. 

  • You will champion the role of human-centered design (HCD) at all levels of the company, enabling senior leaders and non-designers to see themselves in the work. 

  • You will codify the methodology, practices, and adoption strategy that enable HCD to scale across our globally distributed enterprise. 

  • You will develop new products and services that help guide Expedia Group on its human-centered transformation.  

  • You will be accountable for creating KPIs that measure the success of our HCD efforts.  

  • You will define, build, and communicate the rollout of design standards, guides, and tools that draw from best UX practices and the latest industry-standard UI patterns and components 

  • You will be the single point of contact across internal teams to ensure the quality, consistency, and efficacy of artifacts, such as prototypes, wireframes, etc. 

  • You will introduce processes and structures that create efficiencies in the way the design team works, both independently and across Expedia Group. 

 

Who you are (Skills and Experience):  
 

  • Mastery in 2-3 design specializations such as Strategy, Service Design, Visual Design, and Interaction Design. 

  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with driving and applying human-centered design in collaboration with customers and cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, Product Management, User Research).
