Our company has pushed for an “API First” approach for surfacing our Business Capabilities to our EG developer community. We will be building out the full-stack platform that allows API providers and API consumers to be productive in end-to-end flows from onboarding to transacting and evolving their technical and business successes.
In this role, you will have the chance to create an impact across Expedia Group working with various technical teams to help shape our API first approach. You will contribute to the Platform Console and other tool chains that enables producers and consumers of the platform with intuitive interfaces. As a software development engineer III, you will be responsible for leading sophisticated, well-defined projects.
Proactively team up with peers across the organization to build an understanding of cross dependencies and shared problem-solving
Participate in a community of practice to share and gain knowledge
Demonstrate knowledge of advanced and relevant technology
Exhibit comfort working with several forms of technology
Develop and test sophisticated or non-routine software applications to ensure they meet design requirements
Use software design principles, data structures and/or design patterns, and computer science fundamentals to write clean, efficient, maintainable, optimised and modular code with good naming conventions
Lead/Clarify code evolution in code reviews
Bring together different participants with varied perspectives to develop solutions to issues and contribute your own suggestions
Think holistically to find opportunities around policies/ processes to increase efficiency across organization boundaries
Identify areas of inefficiency in code or systems operation and offer suggestions for improvements
Compile and report on major operational or technical initiatives (like RCAs) to larger groups, whether via written or oral means
Experience with Kotlin, Kubernetes and NoSQL technologies
Solid understanding of REST, GraphQL and/or gRPC, as well as API testing and developer experience
Experience working in AWS and continuous delivery practices
Ability to test, monitor, debug, fix issues within established SLAs, using testing and monitoring tools
Able to design software that is easily testable and observable
