Senior Manager , Strategy
Expedia's Strategy Team within the Retail Product & Strategy Division is looking for a Senior Manager to play a meaningful role in our ongoing efforts to deliver the best travel customer experience on the web. Do you want to help people go places? Come travel
In this role, you will bring strategic thought and process to solve for the next generation of product challenges and opportunities. You will play a key role in leading RPT-wide strategic projects while working closely with senior members of the Strategy team and senior executives. By working on behalf of the teams within RPT, you will focus on topics that are more cross team and function in nature, requiring close partnership with the division’s analytics and customer experience teams, as well those in other divisions.
You will be a creative problem solver with an eye for details and a keen focus on results.
You will develop a detailed understanding of the company’s product development and management processes, and how we are seeking to evolve these in line with wider technology, and customer goals.
We bring a strong, results-oriented approach and the technical and analytical know-how needed to deliver results. We are looking for an effective strategic problem solver, relationship builder and communicator to drive support across a broad range of fields and personalities.
What you’ll do
Define & lead strategy initiatives on thought leadership topics and x-team strategic opportunities related to product, travel & consumer trends, technology, customer experience and aspects of change management
Structure and coordinate RPT-wide efforts to provide consistency & transparency into performance management – for use both internally within RPT and by teams and divisions external to RPT
Work with other divisions and teams to drive strategic and operational alignment between their respective priorities, especially in relation to EG-wide goals and initiatives
Provide insights, takeaways, and analysis that reveals opportunities for improvements to our suite of products & the processes they share (e.g. development, operations, harnessing relevant insights, developing appropriate capabilities, reporting etc.)
Enable prioritization and decision-making, by developing & implementing appropriate forums, tools and processes to enable and maintain coordination and prioritization efforts
Who you are:
Demonstrated professional experience, with a preference for those with a management consulting background, experience of leading strategy development and management within a business
Proven ability to identify and frame opportunities, execute analyses, develop business cases and recommendations, and drive alignment
Experience defining and executing analyses with minimal direction, and able to exercise judgement based on the experience of yourself / others
Consistent record to lead, manage & mobilize multiple senior partners across a dynamic, matrixed organization
Proficient understanding of e-commerce and travel a plus
MBA & international experience a plus
A self-starter with a results-oriented mindset & comfortable working autonomously, always seeking ways to make things better and support others
Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the capacity to work to tight deadlines, alongside an ability to consider bold and innovative moves that position us for long term success & impact
Comfortable operating in ambiguity, dealing with the most sophisticated problems where others are looking to you to find a path through
Strong inter-personal skills able to collaborate with others across the organization to achieve collective outcomes as well as communicate effectively with senior managers and executives
Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate issues and influence others internally and externally, including experience communicating complex information to senior leaders
