Software Development Engineer III (React, Kotlin) - Checkout

Sitting at the sharp end of the conversion funnel, our Checkout platform processes millions of bookings a week from customers across the globe using one of our 40+ localized websites or award-winning mobile app. Here in the Checkout team, we are dedicated to providing a highly available, resilient and scalable platform that travellers can trust to book their next trip.
As an Engineer in our team, you will drive key decisions when building the next generation of our cloud-based platform using modern technologies such as React, GraphQL and Kotlin. You will take part in all aspects of the software development lifecycle, solve hard problems at scale, and have an impact on millions of travellers. What you’ll do:
You will develop and test complex or non-routine software applications and related programs and procedures to ensure they meet design requirements
You will coordinate bringing together different stakeholders with varied perspectives to develop solutions to issues and contribute your own suggestions
You will write code that is clean, maintainable, optimized, modular with good naming conventions. You will also use software frameworks to write simpler code
You will lead/clarify code evolution in code reviews
You will participate in a community of practice to share and gain knowledge
You will seek new technical skills in an engineering area and will share them with your team to increase effectiveness
You will assist with a whole systems approach to analyzing issues by ensuring all components (structure, people, process and technology) are identified and accounted for
You will spot areas of inefficiency in code or systems operation and offer suggestions for improvements
You will compile and generate reports on major operational or technical initiatives (like Root Cause Analysis) to larger groups, whether via written or oral means

Who you are:
Strong computer science fundamentals. Bachelor's degree or Masters in a related Technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience
Prior experience mentoring junior engineers and applying new engineering principles to improve existing systems including leading complex, well defined projects
Well-rounded enterprise level professional Java development experience using Spring MVC frameworks, RESTful APIs and SOA
Able to create APIs to be consumed across business units
Able to understand and design moderately complex systems
Able to test and monitor code at the project level
Possess solid experience of working with agile methodologies and CI/CD principles
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Able to identify business problems at the project level and provide solutions
You have worked up and down the web stack from building beautiful UIs to optimizing the backend and developing APIs
You have developed products using Kotlin, GraphQL, React, and Typescript
You have DevOps experience and have supported applications in AWS
You have E-commerce or technical Travel Industry experience
