We are seeking a technology evangelist who can help deliver a game changing omni channel conversational platform to our partners to drive self-service customer journeys supporting multiple Expedia Group (EG) brands, lines of business and external EG partners across the globe. Our goal is to build the world’s best conversational bot platform that can meet customers on any channel (social, SMS, web, or voice), use AI/ML to understand/anticipate their needs and deliver unparalleled service and security.

What you'll do: 

  • You will help ensure our data and systems are secured with the best standards and technology solutions available. You will work across Expedia Groups (e.g. Enterprise Risk and Security organization), 3rd party vendors like Akamai and Apigee API Gateway to secure and manage traffic coming into and going out from our Conversations Platform

  • You will be part of the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Traffic team responsible for designing and implementing API Gateway and security solutions to provide automated protection, detection, and response

  • Onboard external Conversation Platform APIs behind Akamai Web Application Firewall service

  • Migrate Conversation Platform APIs from Apigee API Gateway to new EG API Gateway based on Spring Cloud and Istio Ingress Gateway

  • Communicate any security risks and strategies to senior leadership

  • Work with application development teams to develop platform-level capacity test plans and cases

  • Run platform-level capacity test exercises to ensure platform reliability, capacity and scalability

  • Analyze capacity test results and coordinate with development teams for bug fixes

  • Generate capacity test summary reports for to senior leadership review

  • Review and recommend improvements to existing capacity test procedures

  • Support the developer community with any infrastructure issues during build/deployment/monitoring stages

  • Work on AWS, Akamai, Apigee API Gateway, JMeter, Python, Java, Kafka, GraphQL, Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, Docker, Data Dog, Looker, Splunk

  • Support the developer community with any infrastructure issues during build/deployment/monitoring stages

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or related Technical Field; or equivalent related professional experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in programming languages such as Java or Python

  • Deep knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or other relevant Cloud Infrastructure solutions like Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Experience with micro-services architecture and orchestration of containerized applications through AWS ECS or EKS

  • Experience building Continuous Delivery solutions with tools such as Jenkins, Chef, Ansible, etc.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills along with good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment and stay motivated/flexible

  • Understanding of Agile (e.g., Scrum) and DevOps team processes

  • AWS Associate or Professional certification is a plus
