Manager, Software Engineering

The Marketplace Signals team develops and operates a suite of services that produces and leverages platform data analytics to optimize the marketplace. The Marketplace Signals services segment traveler and supplier requests real-time to adjust inventory pricing, marketplace fees, search ranking, and merchandising.
The team is looking for a passionate engineering manager with a growth mindset, who is excited to coach, mentor, collaborate, and produce results. This team contributes to some of the largest revenue-driving initiatives for Expedia Group, and you will be leading them. What you'll do:
Lead a team of 7-10 engineers located in multiple locations
Develop execution plans and technical designs, providing guidance to both your team members and peers
Directly contributes to system development (30-40% of time), both through code contribution and review of team member’s code
Partners with engineering director to grow engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics, standards, and process for regular assessment and improvement
Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability and inclusiveness
Partners with product manager to ensure alignment between designs, scale, and desired business results/vision
Build an excellent customer experience, raising the bar on functionality, usability, and simplicity
Who you are:
You have proven technical or people leadership experience with platform-focused development teams
You have 3+ years of working experience with core platform technology involving partnerships with internal customer teams
You have 3+ years of work experience in architecting, developing, and launching cloud-based software products or services
As a lead or manager, you have built a high performing team, including setting processes and championing code quality
Leading an engineering team, including hiring and performance management across more than one location is something you have participated in
You’ve developed commercial products and are proficient in Scala/Java or comparable language
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Mathematics; or Equivalent related professional experience
Salary: $111,000 – $120,500
