As a Sr. Designer for Hotwire, you'll thrive at the intersection of craftsmanship, design, and strategy. In your role, you will use your wealth of experience and advanced skills to provide hands-on art direction, meeting the challenges of redefining the Hotwire brand's digital expression and creating a system to ensure it is executed consistently over time. You will identify what makes Hotwire a genuinely unique travel agency and personify those characteristics in a way that connects Hotwire to our customers.

What you'll do

  • Reimagine the Hotwire brand - expressing a personality that's authentic, distinct, and memorable
  • Communicate a clear, compelling new direction; engaging and inspiring key partners to ensure consensus
  • Drive the organization to relevant, inspirational design that evokes delight in our customers and competes aggressively against others in our space
  • Bridge the worlds of taste-making, content, and experiential design
  • Develop digital standards, and specify their application across all customer touchpoints
  • Develop, own and maintain a digital style guide, and ensure the user interface is consistent site-wide
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with partners in brand and marketing
  • Ensure the design team is engaged in consistent execution of the UX visual design approach on all initiatives
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams (ux design, research, product management, marketing, and brand) on initiatives
  • Contribute to the expansion and evolution of our design system

Who you are

  • MFA, BFA or BS in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media or equivalent experience
  • Specialist in 1 core skill, strong and capable in other skills: Interaction/visual design, Information architecture, User research, Facilitation, Prototyping, Technical/Platform knowledge, UX writing, Illustration, and Motion design.
  • 7+ years of proven experience in web, native mobile, product, graphic, interaction, and content preferred
  • Adept in crafting compelling visual designs with consideration for typography, color, iconography, interaction, and motion
  • Fluent in visual design principles at both a conceptual level and a practical level. Based on your experience, you can meaningfully share your understanding of ideas like color, shape, space, type, balance, hierarchy, and form
  • Experienced in applying strategic thinking and business goals to design, challenging established thinking, and discovering new ways of solving a problem
  • A skillful listener who can build consensus among a diverse group of partners
  • A skilled designer with a strong portfolio of work that includes brand development and experience shipping visually compelling digital products
  • Experienced using design and prototyping tools to translate ideas into working products (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe CC, InVision)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
