As a Senior Data Engineer in the Commerce Data & Financials Systems team, you will work on building the data infrastructure for powering Expedia Group’s next generation accounting platform.
Your expertise will help drive long term strategic direction, design requirements, features, functionality, and necessary enhancements. You will also be responsible for collaborating with internal partners and stakeholders to implement effective solutions to support both strategic and tactical team needs.
What You'll Do
You will optimize and automate ingestion and export processes for a variety of data sources, primarily Oracle EBS Financial Accounting Hub and other finance-related systems into EG Data Lake
You will build/extend data products in EG Data Lake to enable financial analytics and data science
You will build/extend toolsets, create/maintain batch jobs, and create systems documentation
You will drive data investigations across organizations inside and outside of accounting and finance to deliver a resolution of technical, procedural, and operational issues
You will influence large scale projects to set the future direction for financial/accounting data and analytics across Expedia
Who You Are
5+ years of hands-on experience data engineering
Proficient in SQL knowledge
Expert in manipulating large data sets with complex SQL and Scala (or other similar languages)
Good understanding in Data Warehousing and ETL
Experienced in engineering data pipelines using big data technologies (Hive, Presto, Spark, Flink etc...) on large scale data sets
2+ years of experience with AWS services - S3, EC2, DMS Jobs, Lambda, Redshift, SNS (or Apache Kafka), SQS, Redis, Data-Lakes, and AWS cloud deployment models
2+ years of experience with Java, Scala, or similar programming languages and experience in Maven, SBT, Spring framework.
Experience in implementing SDLC methodologies and working in Agile SCRUM
BS in Computer Science or related field
Background in business measurement, e-commerce, Accounting or a comparable reporting and analytics role
