Expedia Group has an exciting opportunity to join its U.S. Indirect Tax Team as a Senior Analyst – Controversy & Legislative.  The Controversy & Legislative Team is part of the broader tax department and corporate finance at Expedia Group. Our team of tax enthusiasts is responsible for global direct and indirect tax compliance, analysis, tax provision and reporting, legislative analysis, and special project support such as emerging markets and mergers/acquisitions.

What you’ll do:

The specific responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Controversy – Perform tax research and prepare technical written and data driven responses to state occupancy, sales, use, property, and income tax audit requests and assist the Senior Manager – U.S. Tax Reporting with tax audit management. 
• Legislative – Support analysis of pending and newly enacted tax legislation, , and prepare requirements for compliance teams.
• Technology and Automation – Support the evolution of tax technology tools and technology enhancements.
• Controls and Process Transformation – Maintain and prepare audit process documentation and support ongoing audit process transformation while ensuring adherence to controls and policies.
• May also perform indirect tax project work as required on a variety of business advisory, financial reporting, and transactional tax data projects.

Who you are:

• At least 3+ years of experience in indirect tax with a corporate tax department or public accounting firm
• BA/BS degree in accounting or related field
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and working with large data sets
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable working with confidential documents, communications, and analyses, and in the context of litigation
• Strong tax research skills
• Organized and attentive to detail
• Knowledgeable in basic sales, use, and property tax rules, regulations, and concepts and the ability to apply these concepts to various business scenarios
• CPA license or actively working towards attainment is a plus, but not required
• Masters in tax or accounting is a plus, but not required
• Income tax experience is a plus, but not required
• Works well independently and in a team environment
• Self-starter and diligent problem solver
