Senior Director, Design Program Management

Within the Customer Experience (CX) org, Design Operations exists to help consistently deliver high-quality design at scale, streamline our processes, orchestrate communication and ceremonies, develop our practices, drive professional development, and serve as a catalyst for how we achieve our vision of a design-led culture across the entire organization.  

We strive to improve the quality of work by enabling designers, researchers, content strategists, UX engineers, and others to do what they do best, design great experiences.  

In this role, you will own complex program development and implementation across multiple portfolios throughout Expedia Group. You will manage a team of design program managers (DPMs) who are essential in helping product teams strategize, define, track and deliver work for various lines of business. 

What you’ll do:  

  • Define and drive strategy for CX portfolio planning and management, impact measurement, budget programming, resource allocation, and geographic expansion of design presence.  

  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to effectively position the CX org within broader company-wide work planning cycles and priorities.  

  • Supervise resource usage, identifying areas of commonality or duplication, and looks for ways to optimize efficiency.  

  • Recommend program management engagement models and organizational structures that contribute to company objectives.  

  • Shape org-level, human-centered design process to influence and impact strategic directions for the business.  

  • Enlist leaders to develop and provide organizational engagement models with peer departments and functions.  

  • Champion design methodologies and ways of working to advocate on behalf of the CX organization opportunistically.  

  • Effectively communicate the vision, strategies, methods, and techniques needed to achieve a shared goal across business units.  

  • Provide deep expertise and a broad view of the organization to optimize linkages between structure, people, process, and technology.  

Who you are:  

  • 7+ years of people management experience  

  • Experience leading a portfolio of large and complex, company-wide programs.  

  • Demonstrates the ability to translate complex technical projects into a clear roadmap  

  • Systems thinker with proven methods for strategizing, planning, and executing work at an enterprise scale  

  • Relentlessly user-focused  

  • Familiar with the needs of designers, researchers, and writers  

  • Experience working in Jira at enterprise-level preferred
