Engineering Manager

What you’ll do:

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our FinTech teams, responsible for developing and handling Expedia Partner Solutions services to support our Financial needs. You will focus your time on technical management, people growth, roadmap planning and execution.

You’re the key driver for forward-thinking engineering and ultimately responsible for it, measuring it the through application Security, Scalability, and Resilience patterns on new and existing apps and services.

You make sense of scattered pieces of technology, ensuring the team is working on the right and critical path, and most importantly, you're a champion on cross-function dependencies, building bridges and seek agreements.

Who you are:

  • You will act as a team lead, driving the roadmap execution, technical running the project(s) while planing new ones.
  • You commit to sprint work, developing new features, maintaining and solving bugs, discovering and improving our technical stack.
  • Apply Security, Scalability, and Resilience (SSR) standard methodologies and measure its levels across apps and services on Tools portfolio.
  • Lead teams and development of EPS Internal and External applications hubs (Portal and Console).
  • You promote excellence and forward-thinking engineering, using technical writing to exposure your team to a wider technical population inside and outside Expedia.
  • Set up teams through hiring and people growth while balancing your ownership workload trough delegation, while defining and reviewing individual and team goals (OKRs).
  • Collaborate and share the roadmap success delivery with the wider functions, including Technical Specialists and Product Managers.
  • Act as a servant leader, listen, influencing while bringing empathy to the group.
  • You lead on ‘what' and ‘how’ and strive to make the best out of the people that work with you.

Your background

  • You have got an excellent background in Software Development, with a proven record in managing, design and roadmap execution.
  • You have a passion for solving sophisticated software engineering problems in a fast-paced changing environment.
  • You lead teams, on-prem and remotely, with shown experienced mentoring and coaching.
  • You have knowledge of backend services and front-end applications (web technology), demonstrated by the use of common API standards, patterns, front-end architecture and data flows.
  • You are fluent in Java, Javascript, while knowing functional languages' paradigms.
  • You have solid experience in AWS services and architecture
  • You’ve great knowledge on building serverless patterns, and non-SQL data storage
  • Full knowledge of continuous deployment and integration cycles.
  • You’ve experienced with agile development methodologies including Scrum and Kanban, and you'll thrive working in an agile environment.
