Expedia Global Payments (EGP) is looking for top engineering talent to help drive the development of our payments platform, seamlessly roll out new payments methods, and to continuously implement excellent engineering practices. Our services are the nexus of a globally distributed, cloud-based system that spans many organizations. Our road-map is deep and contains several innovative programs crafted to make our services fault tolerant, reduce the overhead of payment processing, and improve customer experience. This includes compensating for downstream services that are not in Expedia Group's control. This opportunity presents you with great technical challenges along with causing a tremendous business impact. We do this accurately and at scale, processing over $100 billion payments in 55+ currencies in over 155 countries every year across diverse payment options.
This position focuses not only on implementing software solutions for state-of-the-art e-commerce processing systems but also on being a role model and mentor to your fellow engineers across Expedia Group. You will get to expand your knowledge in building highly scalable solutions while influencing others and raising the bar within the team. You will also get the opportunity to hone your skills in influencing decisions across the technology ecosystem within Expedia Group, Inc. by being a key authority in multi-functional feature delivery. Your input also will be essential to the selection of new hires on the team.
What you’ll do:
Work through ambiguous problems through validated design skills, sharp analytical abilities, and an ability to influence/utilize technical teams to execute on those ideas
Demonstrate leadership abilities in an engineering environment, driving operational excellence and standard methodologies across the team
Hands-on in developing fault tolerant distributed cloud-based systems software design and development
Demonstrate Agile software development mechanics
Service Oriented Architecture implementation, service versioning, and backward compatibility
Who you are:
7+ years Software Development work experience along with developing and supporting Web Services in a high transactional environment (Java experience strongly preferred)
Experienced in developing software using Dependency Injection Frameworks and effectively delivering high-performance, highly available and scalable distributed solutions of sizable scope and complexity with large transaction volume on a 24x7 operational cycle
Critical thinking skills and the ability to produce across your team and beyond
Excellent coding skills and strong Object-Oriented Programming concepts, data structure, algorithms, and system level programming (including multi-threaded programming)
Architectural knowledge of software development and design in distributed architecture for multi-tier applications
Ability to articulate technical design decisions and software implementation in technical forums along with mentoring software engineers, leading code reviews/technical design meetings
