Sr Software Development Engineer (Back End)

Our team is looking for a technically savvy, results oriented Sr. Software Development Engineer to work with a group of like-minded software professionals, designers, architects and product specialists to help build new and innovative features for our travel platform. As a Sr. SDE on the Lodging team you will be responsible for the design and delivery of initiatives that improve/expand the system architecture, drive efficiency, automation and build technically sound solutions to sophisticated problems. This individual will play an active role in all aspects of Agile software development.

What you will do:

  • Drive and contribute to the technology road map
  • Guide in the technical design efforts of various initiatives, ensuring the system design meets scalability and performance requirements
  • Lead and participate in the design and implementation (e.g., coding, testing, debugging) effort.
  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies and champion their adoption.
  • Present technical issues and their business impact to management
  • Work with multi-functional teams to research and resolve production issues
  • Communicate complex technical solutions to a variety of business partners
  • Actively mentor peers and other software engineers

Who you are:

  • BS and/or MS in Computer Science.
  • 7+ years delivering critical, high-demand web systems across all parts of the stack utilizing microservices and REST.
  • Solid experience with OO design and development using Java
  • Experience with the following technologies: Spring Framework, REST APIs, Kafka, Dropwizard/Spring Boot, SQL/NoSQL, AWS and Docker
  • Experience with CI/CD frameworks
  • Recent experience building highly scalable enterprise systems
  • Experience at other fast-paced Internet companies, especially Travel companies, is a big plus
