Expedia Group's Development Platform & Infrastructure (DP&I) team strives to provide our internal developer community with the tools and services required to deliver world-class experiences to our customers, the travelers, with as little friction as possible. The DP&I team is looking for a Director to join the DP&I family as part of the Runtime Orchestration Platform group, and drive efforts to build a suite of capabilities in the traffic management, container compute and API management spaces.

As a Director within DP&I, you will lead a number of teams and work streams currently tasked with building out an Expedia Group Compute platform. You will act as the direct line manager to managers, team leads, and senior individual contributors, and help forge and implement a strategy to deliver best-of-breed capabilities tailored to the needs of our customers.

What You’ll Do:

  • Guide and develop existing team to mature and find growth opportunities
  • Partner with product counterparts to define strategy and delivery roadmaps for Compute platform capabilities
  • Communicate the Compute strategy to partners and senior leaders across Expedia Group
  • Define objectives, key results and key performance indicators, and will be accountable for tracking against them.
  • Work towards stability, resiliency and scalability of all Compute platform capabilities.

Who you are:

  • Cloud compute expert with understanding of and exposure to modern paradigms, such as; containerization, orchestration, service mesh and serverless.
  • Experienced manager-of-managers who is comfortable delegating responsibility and holding your team members accountable, but understands that it's sometimes necessary to roll your sleeves up and get involved
  • Proven leader with the history of building and leading strong software and/or infrastructure engineering organizations
  • Technical leader with a deep understanding of product and service management principles as well as Agile delivery methodologies
  • Customer-centric advisor who builds the relationships required to understand and deliver on the needs of our stakeholders
  • An influencer with the ability to sell strategic vision and direction to your team and stakeholders, while remaining willing to make rational adjustments as a result of feedback and discourse.

Nice to have:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related engineering field.
