The Wotif Group is on the hunt for a Social Media Specialist, to join our award-winning team in either Brisbane or Sydney for a 12-month maternity leave cover to grow and nurture our community of travel lovers, making our content impossible to resist.

With license to be ‘Bold, Creative and Meaningful’, we do things differently at the Wotif Group. Case in point, that time we gifted Australia its newest Big Thing – The Big Melon in Chinchilla, QLD. Or that time we threw a real-life sausage festival in Mudgee, NSW. Believe us, you won’t get bored.

Reporting into the Head of Social Media and Content, you’ll be empowered to harness the power of social media to make a memorable, meaningful and measurable contribution to the Wotif and lastminute.com.au brands in Australia and New Zealand. We want an energetic social pro not afraid to hit the ground running and make magic happen!

What you’ll do:

No two days are the same but an average week will include ideas generation, campaign planning, community management, social content copywriting, social advertising, blog post writing, design briefings, influencer engagement, cross-team meetings, reporting and basic budget management. Not to mention Friday drinks, regular excuses for cake and an extremely awesome bunch of colleagues.

Who you are:

  • ‘Social’ isn’t just a job for you, you genuinely have a passion for the power of social media. You’re all over the latest trends, know who’s hot and who’s not in the influencer space and post regularly on your own personal channels of choice. 
  • You have your finger on the pulse of trending pop culture like nobody else and can speak fluent meme.
  • You have a passion for and serious skills in all things design. As our team creative champion, you’ll bring to life our social creative and be across all things font, look-and-feel and art direction.
  • You know social is way more than ‘likes’ and ‘shares’ and love the challenge of using your creative side to come up with big ideas that drive positive business outcomes.
  • You thrive not just survive under pressure, prefer to be busy and have enviable time management and organisational skills.
  • Working independently – often in another city to some of your colleagues - doesn’t faze you but you’re equally fabulous in a team environment.
  • You pride yourself on understanding the importance of data and reporting on insights and the role this plays decision making. You’re not afraid to get your head into spreadsheets and platforms like SocialBakers to analyse and report on social campaigns in line with business metrics and priorities. 
  • You have a can-do attitude, great sense of humour and don’t take yourself too seriously.  You genuinely care about our customers and know how to engage with them in a confident, empathetic, timely and on brand manner.

What do you need? 

  • 5+ years’ experience in social community management and content creation, ideally in-house
  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing/communications
  • A creative eye, unrelenting attention to detail and the skills to create content quickly in a variety of creative suites (for example, Adobe Photoshop, Canva and iMovie)
  • The ability to work directly with our in-house design team – and at times, agency partners – and own the social creative process right from ideation to briefing to feedback to approvals to publishing.
  • Experience in running social media advertising campaigns with a strong grasp on audience targeting, measurement and reporting.
  • Demonstrated usage and passion for social media and the specific nature and requirements of each platform
  • Great communication skills and a genuine dislike for poor grammar and typos.
  • Skills in photography/videography also very beneficial.
