The Revenue, Yield Optimization, and Trusted Marketplace team builds products which enable Expedia to create and recognize marketplace value with each interaction!

The Yield Optimization and Auctions team develops and operates a suite of capabilities which both directly adjust pricing in line with economic and business objectives and enable inventory providers to influence the location of their listings and ads on our sites.

We are looking for an Engineering Director with strong technical skills and experience designing and developing distributed systems that support high transaction volumes. You will be involved in every aspect of the product development process - from strategy to code reviews. The person in this role will lead a world class development team in shipping code across multiple systems and products, bridging technologies to create a premier marketplace that brings the world within reach of millions of travelers each year.

Who you are:

  • You have 5 years of working experience on platform technology involving partnership with internal customer teams.
  • You have 5 years of work experience architecting, developing, and launching cloud-based software products or services.
  • Building high performing teams and growing a manager and individual contributor bench is something you have done and love doing.
  • Leading engineering teams including hiring and performance management across multiple locations is something you’ve done.
  • You’ve developed commercial products and are proficient in C++/Scala/Java or comparable language.
  • Bachelor’s in computer science, Mathematics, or related field preferred.

What you'll do:

  • Support teams in multiple locations: London (UK), Geneva (CH), Denver (CO)
  • Develop a technical roadmap and vision, providing guidance to both your team members and peers
  • Support managers in their own areas of responsibility including but not limited to technology selection, contract definition, execution planning, system design review, and team management
  • Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics, standards, and process for regular assessment and improvement
  • Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability and inclusiveness, in partnership with peers on the leadership team
  • Operate strategically and tactically. Ensure that our technology strategy will support our product strategy while staying on top of day-to-day software development
  • Create an excellent customer experience, raising the bar on functionality, usability, and simplicity.
