As a Software Engineer working in Hotels.com API Strategy team, you will participate in the design, development and deployment of APIs that drives Hotels.com. In an environment with a DevOps mindset you will manage, automate and make decisions that influence applications and services that serve millions of customers from around the world.

Your role:

  • Work with the business and technology groups to refine requirements and functional specifications
  • Along with the rest of the delivery team, responsible for delivering product that satisfies customer-driven user stories
  • Develop code, unit tests and automate acceptance tests in a continuously integrated environment
  • Promote good development methodologies via code review and great software design
  • Proactively monitor the health of applications owned by the team and address issues
  • Encourage people to look at new ways of doing things
  • Take care of our development tools and improve our continuous deployment process

What we’re looking for in you:

  • Excellent experience of Java server-side programming and Spring framework.
  • Deep knowledge about REST and GraphQL API development.
  • Past experience with NodeJS
  • Knowledge of Cloud technologies and Kubernetes.
  • Competency in working with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Great knowledge of Tomcat, Git, Maven, Linux, and Docker.
  • Experience with Java ecosystem of tools including automated build and continuous integration (Maven, Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.)
  • Experience of developing software in an Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban).
  • Attitude is very important You will need to be passionate about improving quality and processes
  • Value the importance of quality for the whole organization and not just to the application
  • Welcome a changing environment.
  • Motivated and enthused by difficulty & challenge.
  • Good interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills when working with both business and technical teams
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently
  • A Computer Science degree, equivalent qualification or practical experience
