Statistician Lead

Are you a passionate problem solver motivated in applying statistics, advanced analytics & testing methodologies to ecommerce optimisation?

We are looking for a statistician to join our Global Product Analytics Team, supporting an extensive brand portfolio that includes some of the world’s leading online travel brands. The goal for this role will be to make everyone across Expedia Group better scientists; Executing best practices in experimentation design and analysis, applying state of the art statistical techniques and leveraging common processes and technology of the highest quality.

What you'll do:

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Experimentation methodology. Partnering with Expedia Groups product leadership team to explore opportunities to enhance business decision making through R&D.
  • Test and learn programme performance. Working with product analysts across Expedia Group to ensure experimentation investment and success is measured in the “best” way to move the business forward.
  • Platform enhancements. Transform our cutting-edge experimentation platform by working with our engineering team.
  • Platform Health. Monitor the quality of our experimentation tools. Investigating any erroneous issues along with refining statistical components.
  • Experimentation design & data democratisation. Ensure the entire business is confident in designing experiments, interpreting results and understanding the advantages and limitations of various methodologies.

To be successful in this role, you should have multiple of the below:

  • Expertise in experimental design. Experience in Bayesian methods is desired.
  • Applying statistical theory to application.
  • Being comfortable in operating within a large-scale experimentation programme.
  • A Masters in at least one science, technology, engineering or mathematics field alongside 3+ years’ work experience within analytical roles.
  • Strong technical skills (comfortable with programming independently of platform or language and practical experience) e.g. Python, R.
  • Good SQL/data manipulation skills required including cleaning and managing data.
  • A real passion for continuous learning, particularly how the experimentation eco-system fits together.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts concisely and clearly to senior level executives.
  • A sharp focus on getting results and insights using the most practical and fastest approach.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable with a high level of ambiguity.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for making an impact along with strong attention to detail.
