This position within Expedia Group offers exactly that, in a dynamic, multicultural and productive environment. As part of our international team, you’ll work with our market-leading travel brands from across the world, offering them a quality solution for content and translations. Specifically, you would be localising new and existing content from English into the Dutch (NL) language, ensuring that our brands’ communications are clear and engaging for the Dutch audience.

Please note: This is a vacancy for a one-year, full-time contract, to be based in-house in our London office.

What you'll do:

  • Translate and localise Expedia Group websites, and any related content, from English to Dutch. The audience for this content ranges from customers and travellers to suppliers (e.g., hoteliers) and commercial partners.
  • Localise and maintain periodical updates for mobile apps and websites
  • Create and localise SEO-friendly and marketing-optimised content for several Expedia Group brands (notably property and destination descriptions)
  • Translate HR documentation, training material and related documentation for internal users and external partners, newsletters, emails to customers and hoteliers, etc.
  • Support the SEM teams in localising URLs, keywords and key phrases for SEM campaigns
  • Support any business initiatives and related requests within the requested deadline
  • Follow quality processes and necessary guidelines and instructions
  • Provide market insight on marketing and merchandising material, including banners and promotions for the Dutch market
  • Work on quality initiatives to improve the overall quality of the Expedia Group websites and products
  • Follow company guidelines to ensure tone, style and voice of Expedia branded products
  • Work in conjunction with Quality Managers to improve the quality of Expedia Group websites
  • Follow terminology, glossaries, reference materials and style guides for the Dutch language
  • Balance and prioritise multiple requests from various clients across brands
  • Translation and maintenance of Social Media content (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) as required.

Who you are:

  • Native Dutch (NL) skills. Plus, a near-native knowledge of English
  • Academic background in Translation /Linguistics /Journalism /Computational linguistics, or relevant equivalent experience in a role requiring language skills
  • A passion for creative writing and translation
  • Expertise in English written and spoken communication: e-mail, status reports, conference calls, etc.

  • Able to work independently

Important competencies:

  • Flexibility and excellent ability to multitask
  • Familiar with working in an international, multilingual environment
  • Desirable: knowledge of Translation Memory tools such as Trados, SDL Worldserver, XTM
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Able to work effectively under deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail, special ability to focus on linguistic issues
