Position Overview: 

Our Engineering team is working to simplify the way people work together. They’re building world class travel platform and a family of products that handle over millions of transactions per day around the world. With our broad mission and massive scale, there are countless opportunities to make an impact. 

Site Reliability Engineers are mission-critical for Hotwire’s success. The SRE team has major impact inside of Hotwire’s engineering through optimizing web services and building our in-house tools to increase reliability of our services. 

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Managers at Hotwire oversee small teams of engineers responsible for the overall health and operational design of our systems. You'll use your rare combination of technical depth, organizational skills, and verbal agility to build and lead a team of some of the best operations engineers in the industry.

What you'll do

·       You'll be responsible for growing and developing an incredible team of talented and motivated engineers with high expectations around individual ownership and impact

·       You'll develop and foster a healthy and collaborative culture for the Reliability organization that embodies both industry best practices and Hotwire’s values

·       You'll ensure your team delivers extraordinary output, and continuously seeks ways to make an outsized impact

·       You'll set direction for the team, anticipating strategic and scaling-related challenges via thoughtful long-term planning

·       Serve as the face of a team responsible for the overall health, performance, and capacity of a significant part of our business

·       Gain and disseminate deep knowledge of our complex applications

·       Play a leading role in the planning and execution of ongoing efforts to rapidly grow and improve our site

·       Develop tight relationships with multiple software development partners, ensuring that product needs are met from an operations perspective

·       Pitch in with hands on help and code as needed to keep things running smoothly

Who you are

·       B.S. or higher in Computer Science or other technical discipline, or related practical experience

·       Experience in internet-scale user-path systems

·       Experience in managing services where durability is as important as availability is preferred

·       5+ years management experience leading a Site Reliability/Production Engineering team for multiple years

·       5+ years’ experience in a web operations role

·       3+ years programming in one or more of: Java, Python or C

·       3+ years expertise in AWS or GCP cloud computing and its related services.

·       2+ years UNIX systems knowledge and/or systems administration background

·       Significant professional experience in 24x7 enterprise environments.

Preferred Qualification:

  • 5+ years in an operations leadership position
  • Trouble-shooting skills that span systems, network, and code
  • Experience with web-based Java/J2EE architectures
  • Excellent communication skills
  • BS Computer Science
