What You'll Do:

As a Backend Engineer you will primarily be working on backend systems, developing solutions to:

  • Identify the right travelers and property owners

  • Engage them with relevant content 

  • Convert them into customers and measure the business metrics accurately 

You will be building Scala based web services and reactive systems that power various digital advertising channels (Google, Facebook, Criteo etc) to grow the company’s business. By effective utilization of data, you will be building Machine Learning models to segment users and target them with the right message. Above all, you will enjoy being a part of a high performing team with a passion for functional programming, a lover for travel and working with the best industry-wide talent in travel marketing. 

Who You Are:

  • An experienced Scala Engineer or an expert Java Engineer who is keen to learn Scala;

  • Bachelor degree qualified or higher (Computer Science or Engineering is preferable);

  • Experience with continuous delivery and integration tools like sbt, Git, and Jenkins;

  • Develop scalable, tested and reliable applications for a really fast paced distributed SOA environment;

  • Experienced working in an agile software life cycle from concept to production and beyond with agile methodologies (including Kanban and Scrum);

  • Appreciate and enhance a dynamic and close-knit software development team committed to shared learning through peer code reviews, HackAway and innovation;

  • Experienced in finding creative and simple solutions to challenging problems, with a focus on getting things done and a test & learn culture;

  • Knowledge of TDD and BDD frameworks;

  • Experience with large scale streaming systems like Kafka;

  • Experience with different data storage mechanisms like Cassandra;

  • Familiarity with REST and service-oriented architecture.
